An unnamed American official told the agency that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken sent letters to the authorities in Denmark and the Netherlands. He assured that the respective requests of the countries would be approved.
“I am writing to express the full support of the United States in both the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine and the training of Ukrainian pilots by qualified F-16 instructors,” Blinken said in a letter.
He noted that “it is very important that Ukraine could protect itself from Russian aggression and violation of its sovereignty.” In addition, the US Secretary of State stressed that the transfer of F-16 fighters will allow Ukraine “to take full advantage of the new capabilities, as soon as the first group of pilots complete their training.”
