The Islamic Emirate’s Prime Minister left Kandahar on July 17, 2023, and returned to Kabul after two months of rest and medical treatment.
TOLOnews’ findings show that there has been no news about any cabinet meeting under the Prime Minister, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund within nearly the past two months.
However, the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, Zabiullah Mujahid, stressed that Mullah Hassan Akhund was present in weekly cabinet meetings.
“We have the cabinet meeting every Monday as usual in the capital, Kabul. The PM is holding it. The meeting took place in Kandahar, but the rest of the meetings will be in Kabul and the Prime Minister will be present,” he said.
The Islamic Emirate’s Prime Minister left Kandahar on July 17, 2023, and returned to Kabul after two months of rest and medical treatment.
However, TOLOnews went through the X page of Arg, a high profile governmental page which shares the news from the office of the PM. There has been no official meeting of Mohammad Hassan Akhund announced over the past nearly two months, according to the page.
Some political analysts meanwhile called the presence of the PM in the cabinet meeting important for solving the ongoing challenges of the country.
“The cabinet meetings should be held based on plan and procedures every morning in which the PM should be present to lead it,” said Mohammad Saleem Paigeer, political analyst.
“The cabinet meetings usually discuss national and important matters. The ministers and the Prime Minister were all present,” said Wahid Faqiri, political analyst.
This comes as on November 3 the Islamic Emirate’s Prime Minister in a video message appeared to the media to criticize Pakistan’s “unilateral decision” for deporting the Afghan refugees.
Also, the latest cabinet meetings were chaired by the Islamic Emirate’s leader Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada on the 20 and 21 of November in Kandahar.
