Meanwhile, some Afghan immigrants living in Pakistan critized the neglect of countries and institutions that pledged to transfer them.
The Interior Minister of the caretaker government of Pakistan, Sarfraz Bugti, said that 99% of the illegally deported immigrants from this country are Afghans.
Bugti also stated that over 300,000 illegal immigrants from Afghanistan have already been returned, and he said that the process of expelling illegal immigrants from this nation will be finished in a month.
“Over 300,000 Afghans—though the exact figure may be higher—have been returned to their country, and their deportation procedure will be finished in a month. Afghan immigrants make up 99 percent of the undocumented illegal immigrants deported from the country,” Sarfraz Bugti said.
Meanwhile, some Afghan immigrants living in Pakistan critized the neglect of countries and institutions that pledged to transfer them.
“The silence of the UNHCR, some of the countries accepting immigrants, and the lack of attention of the government regarding the implementation of visas and other problems together have multiplied the problems of immigrants,” said Mir Ahmad Rauf, head of an Afghan refugee council in Pakistan.
“Both day and night operations are conducted. Afghan refugees cannot travel easily,” said Zahir Bahand, an Afghan journalist in Pakistan.
“The situation of immigrants is very concerning these days. Those who live here or if their cases are in process, or they are leaving, the Pakistani police treat them illegally,” said Asef Khawari, an Afghan immigrant in Pakistan.
Although the Islamic Emirate has not said anything about this recently, it has previously called the expulsion of Afghan immigrants from Pakistan a hasty and inappropriate decision.
“Afghan immigrants are forcibly deported from that country. There is no doubt that this is cruel, untimely and sudden, which has its own problems, but we have criticized this many times and said that this should not be done,” said Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate.
According to figures released by the caretaker government of Pakistan, about 4.4 million Afghan immigrants live in that country, of which 1.7 million do not have legal documents.
