Ministry: Work on Nearly 90 Projects Begins

Some Kabul residents welcomed the start of development projects, saying that the opportunity for work has a positive effect on the economic growth of families.

The Ministry of Public Works said that it has begun work on nearly 90 projects worth more than two billion afghani, including the building of roads, bridges, and highways.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Ashraf Haqshenas, emphasized that more than 15,000 individuals in the nation would get direct and indirect employment as a result of the start of these projects.

“The Ministry of Public Works implemented 68 projects worth 1.8 billion afghani from the development budget and 21 projects worth more than 316 million afghani from the normal budget in 1402 solar year,” Haqshenas noted.

Some Kabul residents welcomed the start of development projects, saying that the opportunity for work has a positive effect on the economic growth of families.

“If they provide employment opportunities for the people they can provide something for their families, they will never do such,” said Roheedullah, a resident of Kabul.

“It is good news for the people of Afghanistan. For a better future for Afghan youth and to prevent their immigration, work opportunities should be provided for them,” said Rafiullah, another resident of Kabul.

Some economists said that in order to implement large economic projects, it is necessary to solve political problems.

“A series of conditions and requirements are needed, which can be political and economic conditions, in order to increase trust and draw large financial institutions to the Afghan economy. However, until the Afghan government bows to global political conditions and international rules and principles, it is certain that the institutions won’t help Afghanistan’s economic situation,” said economist Shaker Yaqoubi.

The Ministry of Public Works said that in the solar year 1401, the ministry completed 125 projects worth a total of 421 million afghani, providing both direct and indirect employment to 10,000 people.
