Dozens of human rights and civil rights organizations in a joint letter to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), called for the establishment of an independent investigative mechanism for Afghanistan.

According to the letter, the organizations offered the two suggestions for the purpose of:
– Investigate all alleged violations and abuses of human rights, violations of international human law and international crimes, including the crimes of gender persecution.
– Collect, consolidate, and analyse evidence, and prepare files of such violations and abuses, including their gender dimension, and systematically record and preserve all information, documentation and evidence, consistent with international law standards, in view of any future legal proceedings and accountability efforts.
– Document and verify relevant information and evidence.
– To identify, where possible, the individuals and entities responsible with a view to ensuring they are held accountable.
– Make recommendations with a view to ending impunity and ensuring accountability, including as appropriate, individual criminal responsibility, and access to justice for victims.
This comes as the acting Minister of Interior, Sirajuddin Haqqani, in a meeting with the delegation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), said that education is the shared right of Muslims and he urged the delegation to be patient and said the education of girls is a need of Afghan society and will be facilitated as the conditions were paved for it, according to a statement released by the spokesman of the MoI, Abdul Matin Qani, on social media.
The statement quoted the OIC delegation as saying that the Islamic Emirate has been able to preserve the stability of Afghan currency, prevent Daesh and criminal activities, and counter narcotics.
The delegation also stressed the need for the education of girls and women, saying that modern education will pave the way for development.
