Islamic Emirate Rejects Claims of Interference in Aid Distribution

“It is true that the aid of the international community comes to Afghanistan, but it does not reach needy people,” said Jawed, a Kabul resident.

The Islamic Emirate rejects the claims of their interference in the process of distributing humanitarian aid in the country and said that aid organizations have reduced their aid due to a lack of funds.

Zabiullah Mujahid, in reaction to the Security Council report, said that the current government only ensures the security of relief institutions and does not interfere in the internal affairs of the institutions.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan does not interfere in the affairs of any institution to disrupt their work. We and our military are obliged to ensure their security,” said the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate.

“Our demand of aid agencies within the international community, especially to the United Nations, is to not consider political issues in humanitarian and development aid,” said Abdul Latif Nazari, deputy of the Ministry of Economy.

“I have to work a lot, 200 to 150 days, with which I can pay the house rent sooner, for example, there are other things like sickness and other help has not reached us yet,” said Omidullah a shoe shine.

“It is true that the aid of the international community comes to Afghanistan, but it does not reach needy people,” said Jawed, a Kabul resident.

The Security Council report mentioned that the “Taliban’s” policies and practices have also complicated efforts to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

“The snapshot also reports that 56 programmes were temporarily suspended in July due to humanitarian access incidents, including incidents involving interference with the implementation of humanitarian activities, the restriction of movement, and violence against humanitarian personnel and facilities.”

Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan said that the reason for the reduction of aid to Afghanistan was a lack of funds and it emphasized that they received only 25% of the money they requested this year.
