Israel Extended Social Assistance for Ukrainian Refugees Until the End of the Year

Israel continued to provide social and medical assistance to refugees from Ukraine. The program will run at least until the end of 2023.

It is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of the adviser to the office of the Prime Minister of Israel Dmitry Gendelman.

At the initiative of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrych, a meeting was held on permanent assistance to Ukrainian refugees.

At the meeting, it was decided to extend social and medical assistance to refugees from Ukraine until the end of the year.

According to representatives of Israel, we are talking about 14,213 citizens of Ukraine, of which 3,600 are over 65 years old and approximately 1,500 are children. The Israeli government will allocate 100 million shekels ($17 million) for this.

“The decision taken testifies to the commitment of the current government to the principle of “Tikkun Olam” – correcting the world that has lost its harmony; this is our tribute to mercy and compassion for people who have lost their homeland and shelter,” said Yossi Sheli, Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Relations between Israel and Ukraine

We will remind, Israel said that it takes a neutral position on the war between Russia and Ukraine. Jerusalem has not provided weapons to our army, but is sending humanitarian aid.

Even at the beginning of a full-scale war, Ukraine offered Israel to mediate, but Jerusalem refused.

We also add that the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Azman gave an exclusive interview to RBC-Ukraine. He spoke about the conflicts between Ukraine and Israel and who benefits from them, help from Israel and blackmail from Russia – read the interview at the link.
